Helen Dallas began drawing seriously in the early 1980s. Her professional training took place in the studios of several artists in New York and California and she attended classes at the National Academy of Design in New York, the San Francisco School of Art, and the University of California in Berkeley. Her work is in private collections across the United States.
Her focus is portraits of people and non-human subjects. Everyday objects assume familiar human roles in her drawings. She finds beauty in that which is not thought to be conventionally beautiful, an intensity existing in the commonplace things around us. Her desire is to simplify, find the heart of the matter, the truth.
