2008 groundSPARK street painting festival

The 10th annual groundSPARK Raleigh Street Painting Festival will be held in Moore Square on September 19-21, 2008. Visual Art Exchange produces the festival, which last year had a record number of artists (over 400!) chalking for an intense 27 hours and transforming Martin Street into a work of art.

10,000 visitors came to watch the artists and participate in the many creative (and free!) components of the festival including People’s Choice voting, The Scrap Exchange, and KidsCHALK. This year’s festival will boast additional activities including a weaving wall, Image Slam, free face painting, and even a visit from the Chalk Princess.

DEADLINE to sign up is September 5, 2008, but register by August 29th and the $5 registration fee is waived! See the groundSPARK website for more details and to download a registration form.

PSNC Photo Depot

All of us have trouble finding good reference photos from time to time, so we have decided to build a repository of copyright-free images donated by our members. Anyone who wishes to participate may bring as many 5x7 or 8x10 color prints of any photo they wish to release permission to use to our monthly meetings. There will be no cost to use the photos and therefore no compensation to the photographer. By sharing in this way, we can all become better artists. We hope you'll contribute to this resource!
