Patricia Bridgers Harriss was born in Wilson, North Carolina and studied art at RPI (now VCU) in Richmond, Virginia and Atlantic Christian College (now Barton) in Wilson. She and her husband Henry moved to Angier after rearing four children in the nearby town of Fuquay Varina. Although she was able to do a few portrait commissions during those years, it was after the children left home that she decided to resume her art career. She works in watercolor and oil, as well as pastels.
She has studied portraiture under Daniel Greene, Frank Covino, Ben Konis, and Roberta Carter Clark. She has also participated in many watercolor workshops of other well-known artists such as Arne Westerman, Skip Lawrence, Don Andrews, Joseph Bohler, and Alex Powers; and a pastel workshop of Carl Dalio.
She has always loved to draw and that is probably why she loves pastels. They offer the best of both worlds; drawing and painting. People are her favorite subjects but she has sold a few landscapes as well.
Patricia is a member of The Visual Fine Art Association of Fuquay Varina, American Society of Portrait Artists and The Pastel Society of NC.
