Kiefaber “Light is what excites me and the way the dark forms it, whether it is a landscape, figure or still-life . For me, the way light falls on a subject has a great emotional impact that expresses something in my life. I am an admirer of the Baroque period with its emphasis on chiaroscuro but at the same time I love the painters of theBarbizon school ,who while still steeped in the classical tradition, have a loose brushstroke that excites me. In my work, I like to keep these two schools in mind but with a more modern sensibility.”A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Anne Kiefaber attended the Schuler School of fine Arts, and later spent close to 2 years in Paris, working in an art gallery as well as taking classes at the Louvre Evening school and the Ecole Montparnasse. To further her skills she has taken workshops with noted portrait painters, Daniel Greene and Luana Luconi Winner as well as landscape painters like Larry Blovitz and Greg Biolchini and more recently Elienne Basa.
