Vinita Jain is having a show at Chatham Street Cafe in Cary from September 14th through October 26th where she is displaying mostly soft pastels and a few acrylic paintings.

There will be an opening reception for a show, “Exploring Color and Light,” featuring PSNC member Lolette Guthrie on Friday, August 28 from 6-9pm at the Hillsborough Gallery of Arts on 121 Churton Street in Hillsborough.
The show runs until late September and the gallery hours are Monday -Saturday 11am–6pm and Sundays from 1-4pm.
See new animal paintings by Addren Doss in “In Our Care,” a group show of animal art to benefit The Red Dog Farm Animal Rescue Network.
A special wine & cheese reception and fund raiser will be held Friday, August 28, 2009 from 5-7pm at the Center For Creative Leadership at 1 Leadership Place in Greensboro.

PSNC Member, Kim Werfel, is doing a pastel painting demo this Sunday, August 2nd at 1pm for the Chatham Arts Gallery, located at 115 Hillsboro St., in Pittsboro.

They’ll be filming the demo for their computer in the gallery so visitors can learn more about the artists in the gallery.
Her portrait work will be available for viewing at the Chatham Arts Gallery for their theme of “People” through the end of September.
PSNC member, Rebecca Margolese-Malin, will have her artwork on display at Cup A Joe coffee shop in the Timberlyne Shopping Center (1129 Weaver Dairy Road, next to the Chelsea Theater) during the month of August.
Come by and see her selection of portraits and still lifes. The “meet the artist” reception will be Sunday afternoon, August 23, from 2-5pm. This will be her first solo show!
PSNC Member Wendy Musser was awarded the title of Associate PSA with the Pastel Society of America in June 2009. Congratulations Wendy!
PSNC Member Dan Vaughan has won 1st place in the juried painting competition at Art & Soul Gallery in Mebane, NC with his pastel of a salt water marsh titled “Cool Morning at Kiawah.”
This painting will be on display at the gallery until the end of July.
Dan Vaughan’s art exhibit at Fleet Feet at 406 Main St in Carrboro, NC has also been extended through the month of July. This is only four doors down from Carrboro ArtsCenter.
Vinita Jain‘s artwork was chosen for use in the Treadaway Cup competition. The Treadaway competition is like installation artwork done in flowers, inspired by an original painting. This competition will take place on Sunday, August 16 at the “Pastels & Petals” all floral show in conjunction with the NC State Florists Association Annual Convention at the Greensboro Embassy Suites Hotel.

Dan Vaughan has a solo exhibition at Fleet Feet Inc., 406 E Main, Carrboro that will run until the end of June. A second solo exhibit will be at the Herb Young Community Center in Cary from July 28 until September 21, 2009.
In 2009, we started a new trend of introducing members to a book or DVD at our meetings that has been helpful to one of us in developing our journey as artists. Mandy Roeing brought in Art Marketing 101 back in January and the publisher now has special pricing on the entire series of books.
