Toni Lindahl, PSA-MPAnyone who is familiar with my work knows I love to work in series. When I am inspired by a subject, I enjoy pursuing it until I have exhausted my interest. My pastels are diverse in subject matter, ranging from florals and figurative work to landscapes. I emphasize movement, patterns, light and shadow.   I became very interested in environmental issues, particularly with the diminishing rainforests. I wanted to try and portray the beauty of tropical plants. This inspired my Leaf Pattern Series. I love to showcase the way sunlight plays on the leaves and all the small compositions lurking within. The 2011 Annual Juried Fine Arts League of Cary (FALC) painting and sculpture exhibition at Paige Walker Art Center in Cary includes several PSNC members. The juror was Sterling Edwards. Exciting news for one of our members, Toni Lindahl… a six page article is coming out about her in France’s “Pratique Des Arts” magazine on October 22. FALC’s major event of the year, open to two and three-dimensional original works of art, will be on display from June 1 to July 17 at the Halle Cultural Arts Center at 237 N. Salem Street, Apex, NC. Admission is free.   The reception and awards ceremony will be tonight, Friday, June 4 from 6- 8 pm. One-hundred and forty-four artists entered 359 pieces, and 70 works by 50 artists were were selected by the juror, Linda FitzSimons of Raleigh. Last night the PSNC Publicity, Exhibition and Hospitality committees got together over a meal to discuss the slate of shows scheduled for this fall.
