New “Continuing Pastel” Class with Kim Werfel starts March 6th

This course is for the intermediate to advanced pastel student who wants critiques as they work on their own subject matter. Students will explore different techniques in finding their own style with guidance from the instructor. Elements and principles of design are kept in mind as students learn to apply compositional rules to their work for maximum results. Classes start with group critiques and discussions with the rest of the class time working with individual help through class. Spending time working outside of class will be necessary.

Basic understanding of pastels or Intro to Pastel Painting is required. This class is not for beginners.

Diana Coidan received the “Art Award of Excellence” at the Arts Council of Carteret County 24th Juried Art from the Heart Show in Morehead City, NC with her pastel “Sea-Aire on the Pamlico.” The show and sale will run through February 28th.

6th Annual National 2D Competition in Fayetteville, NC

Cape Fear Studios in Fayetteville NC is sponsoring the 6th Annual National 2D Competition. Juror Barbara Jaenicke will present a 3 hour pastel demonstration in conjunction with the show opening on June 27th, 2014. The deadline for entries is May 6th. Prospectus and demo information are available at the Cape Fear Studio website.

Cape Fear Studios, Inc. (CFS) is a nonprofit arts organization in historic downtown Fayetteville. Their mission is to involve, educate, and enrich Cumberland County and surrounding communities with the opportunity to create and freely view art.
