Kathryn Troxler put the finishing touches on two paintings she started during the plein air session at Emily Thompson’s Farm back in May.

Solo Show at The Artery Gallery, 1711 Spring Garden, Greensboro, for the month of March. Opening is March 9, 5- 7.
The show includes pastel, watercolor and oil paintings.

Kathryn Beam Troxler grew up in California and came with her family to Greensboro, NC in 1982. She studied painting with Maggie Fickett, Chuck McLaughlin, Alexis Lavine, Anne Kiefaber and several other artists. A member of PSNC and NC Plein Air Open, she has participated in numerous exhibits and had her first solo show at the Artery Gallery in 2018. She works in pastel, watercolor and oil. Her collection of Poems, Tuning, with one of her paintings on the cover, was published in October 2016, and is available in local bookstores and online.
Artist’s Statement
For me, both art and poetry are forms of meditation, ways to explore the essence of what I see. Because I love Nature, wide open skies and water, and have a kinesthetic need to explore its intricacy and beauty, I have been a plein air painter since childhood. I paint portraits and other subjects as well, using a variety of media.

What a special moment!
My two boxes of poetry books just arrived from the publisher. The first copy arrived in time for me to give it to my father on his centennial birthday.
This collection of poetry explores universal themes such as where we came from and where we are going –life, death, aging, faith, creativity, relationships to culture, nature, animals, and individuals, the means by which we nurture and restore ourselves. I delight in visual beauty, the music of language, the resonance of overarching themes as reflected in and connecting the individual poems.
